DENTAL IMPLANTS
Dental implants are considered to be the gold standard in tooth replacement in today’s world. Dental implants made of titanium and act as artificial tooth roots. Titanium is a metal that is compatible with our bone/body and therefore it is used not only in dental implantology, but in orthopedic surgery, as well as other surgical procedures. Dental Implants have a success rate of approximately 95% when performed by a dental specialist. Because the titanium “fuses” with our bone, the healing process after implant placement can take a few months before you can have a tooth placed on the dental implant. Dental implants can be used to replace a single tooth to multiple teeth depending on your dental needs.

For a patient to be able to have dental implants, there must be adequate amount of bone present to support the titanium dental implants. If there is not enough bone present, then a bone grafting or bone augmentation procedure will be required. The augmented bone will then need a few months to heal. While the bone graft is healing, a temporary denture or bridge can be placed so that you are not without teeth.

After we have determined that the dental implants are fully healed, you will then see your dentist for fabrication of teeth that will be supported by the dental implants. It is imperative that you care for dental implants as you would for real teeth. Regular dental check ups and cleanings, flossing, and brushing will increase the longevity of your dental implants.
